this toy may seem less than stellar but it was amazing for my son! It entertained him when nothing else would when we were out (he’s a happy baby but NOT easy going). We brought it everywhere till he was about 8 mos old and he has sucked all over it, chewed on it, and dropped it more times than I can count. I would recommend it for anyone with an infant or baby. We used it before he was even following objects till well afte. Now, it’s not as much of a distraction but he does still enjoy it…he’s 8 mos old and it was a great gift!!

Good toy for 6 months old. This is tiny toy. We had something else in our mind, when we received bit disappointed. But kid loves this toy

This is the one toy that my 2 boys (5 and 2) will fight over every single time; we had to buy 2 of them just to restore family harmony in the car. It’s their default travel toy and they ask for it every time. Both of them love putting it up next to their ear and listening for 20-30 minutes just as much as they enjoy watching the lights.

This is one of the few music toys that plays music selections that are long enough for to be entertaining (and for parents that know the tunes, the pieces are not annoyingly edited or cut short). It’s not obnoxiously loud, either, which is AWESOME for parents, and the batteries last a long time too.

    Highly recommend this toy!

    Best Toy Ever!

This toy was given to us as a gift. This is the best portable toy that we received. It is his very own “ipod” We have taken 6 plane rides between the months of 4-9 and this was a life saver. The music is peaceful and the lights keep him very entertained. It is portable enough to throw in a diaper bag or purse. Now at 9 months old, he carries it around with him. I would highly recommend this toy to anyone.

My 3-month old boy loves this toy. If he is fussing, I turn on the radio and he is just mesmorized by the lights and sounds.

Even before this toy was out of the Christmas wrapping paper I had my nephew staring at the lights! After it was opened he wouldn’t stop staring at it. It is the first solid object that he has held onto for longer than ten seconds, and he loves to hear the music and I love that it’s classical and not annoying. Another great invention from Baby Einstein!!!

    a little heavy
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Nice bring-along-toy for baby. But is a little on the heavy side for a very young baby. Based on my experience with my own son, I would think most babies 4 months or younger would have difficulty holding / lifting this.

Having this at the changing table keeps baby occupied. Great sound quality. Nice that there are several tunes to choose from. The flashing lights nice when changing in the dark.

    Great baby soother!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This has been wonderful in soothing my now 7 week old baby. The music is adult friendly sounding (no horrible midi sounding things) and the variety keeps you from wanting to go insane too quickly. My baby is also fascinated by the blinking lights. This is one of the best spent 10 dollars.

    Good sound quality!

I was given this as a gift when my son was 5 weeks old. He loves the music.. great sound quality too! The music goes on long enough so that you don’t have to keep pushing it all the time.. but not too long that it won’t stop fairly soon. When he’s on the changing table and looks bored i quick press the music button during the change and he smiles and coos through the diaper change. Great size for a diaper bag too! There’s also enough songs that you don’t go insane with the same thing playing over and over again in your head all day! If you’re looking for this kind of thing.. I’d recommend this one!!!!

Nice music, but my son doesn’t seem too entertained
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
My son received the Take Along Tunes for Christmas. As a parent, I like the music it plays . . . but my son doesn’t seem overly enthused with it. He’ll hold onto it, and sometimes press the button for music, but it’s certainly not his favorite toy.

I bought this for my son who is now three. He loved it then and my new baby – eight months – loves it now. It’s a great purchase. Batteries last forever.

    Great Distractor
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We use this toy all the time when we need to distract my son (ie in a doctor’s office, restaurant, long car rides, etc). It is pleasant sounding and the button is easy to press and the handle makes it easy for my one year old to grip. I liked it so much I just purchased one for my friend’s baby.

One of her favorite toys. I only wish the handle was softer…so she could chew on it. Otherwise great!

we love this toy! we got it for my son when he was a baby because it has it all! classical music, lights, a button to press. it is simple yet enjoyable. he is 18 mths now and he still plays with it. it is quiet enough on the loudest setting to use in church. woud definately recommend this one for the diaper bag!

    Great toy! Well worth $12.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We received this as a gift for our son when he was a newborn. Then, he was fascinated by the lights and sounds, even though he could not hold it or push the buttons. It still holds his interest at 7 months, and now he can manipulate the songs. It’s perfect size and shape for a baby’s hands. You do have to turn it on for your child, but we love how it has two volume levels, neither of which are too loud. The songs are pleasant; we don’t mind hearing them repeated even after all these months. A great toy!

***However, I do see the price is currently ridiculous on Amazon. I’m not sure why. This is a great toy, but DON”T PAY $50. Find something else similar, I’m sure there are other good options

    Guaranteed smiles…great for picture-taking!
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Overall, a great toy. My son really began to enjoy this when he was about 2 months old. As everyone else says, the music is actually really nice–better than any of the other toys we have. But the best thing about it is the lights…something about the way they dance around, it always makes my little one smile. In fact, whenever we want to take pictures of him smiling, we would hold it behind the camera to get big grins from him. The only thing I would change about it would be to make the caterpillar handle a little smaller. He is four months old now, and still cant hold onto it. I am a little concerned that by the time he’s old enough to hold it, he won’t be so interested.

  18. mjs says:

    good sound, not to loud
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Most baby toys are too loud and sound terrible, with that tinny/bad speaker sound. The baby Einstein sound is just right. The volume is not to loud and the quality is excellent compared to most other kids toys. The tunes are great and do not get annoying even after listening to them over and over. It is easy for an infant to hold and the lights grab their attention and hold it.

I would definitely buy this again.

sounds and lights are entertaining, could’ve done more w/ it
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I received this today. I’m giving it to my 5-year-old brother who has cerebral palsy. We’ll see how he responds. The sounds and lights are entertaining. I don’t love the circular pad on the front. It’s just coated paper, and the colors don’t represent individual buttons. It’s just one button under there. Before I figured that out I thought the red wasn’t working! The label says it helps with hand-eye coordination. I guess it teaches children that sounds and colors appear when they press the button. It would’ve been nice if there were individual buttons that trigger the same colors. Then toddlers could consciously trigger certain colors.

    We love our “Baby iPod”
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We jokingly call this our son’s “Baby iPod”. Nicholas is 10 months old and has had this for about 4 months. He likes to watch the lights and the button is easy for him to press. He also likes to chew on the handle! The toy is very portable — easy to clip onto linking rings to keep it from getting lost. The sound is good quality and the songs are upbeat and fun. It’s a great buy for the price.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My granddaughter was turning one and loved anything with music or lights, so I ordered this for her. It quickly became one of her favorite toys. It’s easy for her to hold on to, press for music, and she loves the bright colors. Grandma did good on this one! I highly recommend it!

When my son was little i bought him a baby ipod, the songs were great on that one but it broke soo fast. Now i bought this one for my daughter i love it so much more. The songs are pretty its easy to use and even my son who is now 2 1/2 loves it!

He will turn it on for his sister to make her stop crying and it works, classic music is always great for kids, very soothing!!

Our son is very choosey with the types of toys he will pick up and this is, by far, his favorite!! He responds to the flashing lights and the music. This learning toy has 2 volume settings and neither of them are overbarring, also the lights are not overstimulating. We don’t go anywhere without it!! A fabulous gift for anyone with an little one!

this was a gift from grandma…and is now our 3 month old son’s (and our) favorite toy! If he gets fussy, we just turn it on and he stops and just gazes at the lights. We also attach it to his car seat for the boring car trips. He loves it! The sound seems to sooth him, and is pleasant for us. I don’t mind getting classical music stuck in my head!

    Entertaining but not annoying!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
It’s nice to find a baby toy that isn’t a super loud, incessant, tinny broken record. This is toy has 2 volume settings, of which the highest is quite tolerable. It even has an “OFF” position! Our little boy loves it, and the lights also follow the melody.

    Fantastic toy!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This has been my son’s favorite toy since he was 2 months. He really follows the lights (which dance in rhythm to the music) and loves listening to the music as well. He definitely has his favorite tunes. We use this toy almost every playtime and it’s sure to lead to ear-to-ear smiles every time. Oh yeah, and it’s small enough to pack into his diaper bag for when we’re out and about. Highly recommended.

Good Toy..easy to listen to over and over
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We purchased this toy for our newborn a few months back. Shes always liked the colors and the lights. Now that shes able to pick it up, she also enjoys chewing on it! The songs are great sound quality and are not annoying as many toys are. the only drawback is that each song doesnt last but 10 seconds or so. So you find yourself pushing the button over and over, but I would recommend this for a great baby toy. Lilly really enjoys it.

    Can’t live without it!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We bought this on the recommendation of a friend for our 6-month old twins. At first, they just watched the lights. Now at 11 months, they reach for it and prefer it over other toys. The music is fun and upbeat and the lights are great and keep the baby busy. As a mom, I like that the volume has 3 settings: off, low and high. The “high” isn’t really that loud either. We have it set to the lower setting, and turn it off when we put it in the diaper bag. If you don’t push “play” again after the song is done, it stops, so it’s not constantly playing and driving you nuts. Great toy at a great price.

    Perfect Travel Toy
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Our 8 month old has loved this toy since she was a newborn. We keep it in our diaper bag and use it when we travel or go out to eat to help entertain her. She loves the lights and the music. We call it her “ipod” – since it looks similar to one and plays music.

MY 8 MONTH OLD GODSON LOVES THIS AT HOME OR IN THE CAR. EVEN DOUBLES AS A TEETHING TOY! NOT TOO LOUD BUT LOUD ENOUGH. PLEASANT SOUND TO MUSIC. SOME SONGS ARE SOOTHING, OTHERS ANIMATED. LIGHTS FLASH. FUN ON THE GO!
